The Sundae is currently accepting submissions for publication on our website. We’re looking for pop culture criticism, particularly film and TV criticism. We tend to publish articles in the 1,500 to 4,000 words range, but that’s not a hard-and-fast rule, and we’re open to publishing work of any length or format if it would be at home on The Sundae.

We are interested in analysis with passion, thoughtfulness, humour and a strong sense of pop culture history. While we’re interested in cultural criticism with a political bent, we do not publish writing that’s primarily political. We’re also not interested in hot takes, standard reviews of newly released films, TV shows or music, or anything closely tied to a news item.

We do not publish fiction, poetry, or personal narrative essays (unless they’re about your favourite pop punk band). We are not interested in anything that is exclusively happening on Twitter and have a house rule against citing bad tweets.

All contributors to The Sundae will be paid (though not very much). Pitches and full draft submissions can be sent to sundaepublishing@gmail.com.
